Winchester Model 94 Lever-Action .30-30 Winchester

The Winchester Model 94 rifle (also known as the Winchester Model 1894) is a lever-action repeating rifle that became one of the most famous and popular hunting rifles of all time. It was designed by John Browning and was the first commercial American repeating rifle built to be used with smokeless powder. Although produced in other calibers, this iconic rifle became synonymous with the .30-30 Winchester cartridge and gave rise to other lever-action models such as the Model 55 and Model 64. The Model 94 has seen service with sportsmen, ranchers, law enforcement and the military. Some have said that such versatility was not seen again until the introduction of the AR-15 platform.

Purchased from the family of a former Arizona Ranger who are related to western legend “Buffalo Bill” Cody and long-time residents of Bisbee, Arizona, this rifle undoubtedly served as a ranch rifle during its lifetime. Manufactured in 1925, this is the 20″ barrel carbine version that people are most familiar with. While it has seen its share of use, there is nothing that does not add to the character of this rifle. The wooden furniture has a few dings and scuffs that one would expect from a working rifle, but remains solid with a nice finish. The action remains smooth and in good shape. The saddle ring stud is intact, however the ring was likely removed at some point (although the rifle could originally be ordered without the ring, most were produced with it). Lever-action rifles are making a come-back and this classic could make a nice shooter or a fine addition to any collection.
