BPS stands for Browning Pump Shotgun. The BPS has a mix of a classic look with modern fit and handling. The floating rib allows the rib and barrel to expand at different rates and move independently of each other, as well as preventing the point of impact shifts caused by barrel heating. Unique to the BPS is the bottom feed and ejection port. Shells are loaded and ejected from the bottom, leaving one less port for dirt and debris to enter the action. Likewise, a left-handed shooter won’t end up ejecting empty hulls into their face. Combined with the top tang safety, this gun is truly ambidextrous. Reliable and comfortable to shoot, the BPS is often the standard to which other pump shotguns are compared. The extra wide gold Browning trigger typically pulls at an average of 5.5 lbs. Chambered for 2 3/4 and 3″ shells.
Manufactured by Browning in 1988 at the Miroku factory in Japan, this BPS is in excellent condition. There are a few scratches on the walnut furniture and a light one on the right side of the receiver, which appear to be storage scratches; most could be removed with a little work. Overall however, this is a great buy; similar condition examples routinely sell for a $100 dollars more than the price of this BPS. The butt pad is in excellent shape, the chamber and barrel are clean with a nice shine and the function is smooth.
Purchase will include a silicon-treated gun sock (not pictured).
