In response to the requirements of various law enforcement agencies, Beretta made modifications to the original Model 92. They introduced a slide-mounted combined safety and decocking lever, replacing the frame-mounted thumb safety. This evolution gave birth to the Model 92S, which found adoption among several Italian law enforcement and military units.

One distinctive feature of the Model 92S is its magazine release button, located at the bottom of the grip as is customary in Europe. Production of this model spanned from 1978 to 1982.The light alloy frames are paired with durable steel slides, ensuring reliability, longevity and are a joy to shoot.
